Blixx Gaming secures three licences ahead of Finland market opening
Malta-based operator Blixx Gaming granted three gambling licences by Finland's National Police Board ahead of the July 2027 market launch.
Finland’s National Police Board granted Blixx Gaming three gambling licences on 26 October 2026 under the country’s new Gambling Act, the company announced. Blixx Gaming applied for the licences when the application window opened on 1 March 2026.
The Malta-based online casino operator also holds gambling licences in Estonia. The company’s brands include Kanuuna and Lonkerokasino, with a third brand described as in development. Blixx Gaming was founded in 2022 and employs around 30 people. It is part of the HappyHour.io investment portfolio.
Finland market opening
Finland is dismantling the last major online gambling monopoly in the European Union, with its licensed market set to open on 1 July 2027 under a new Gambling Act that ends Veikkaus’s exclusive rights over online casino games, sports betting, and slots.
Blixx Gaming said it intends to open a local office in the country ahead of the market launch.
Regulatory requirements
Under the Gambling Act, licensed operators are required to apply mandatory deposit limits, report to the supervisory authority on measures to prevent gambling harm, and keep marketing within prescribed limits.
Licensing authority shifts from the National Police Board to the Finnish Supervisory Agency on 1 July 2027, the same date on which the market opens to private operators.
